Smooth Sailing & Classic Rock Fire from the ’70s

Set sail with Summer Breeze SD, San Diego’s smoothest 7-piece Yacht Rock and ’70s Review. Fully stage-ready and stacked with decades of experience, the band charts a course through the music of more than 30 iconic artists who shaped the decade. This musical voyage blends the velvet harmonies and silky grooves of Yacht Rock with the punch, swagger, and guitar muscle of the classic-rock era.

From soft-focus sunsets and satin-lined melodies to deep-cut classics and rock-the-boat anthems, Summer Breeze SD covers the entire spectrum of ’70s sound. Whether you love the sophistication of Steely Dan, the brass and big hooks of Chicago, the smooth poetry of Seals & Crofts, or the strong-arm riffing of bands like Three Dog Night and The Doobie Brothers, you’ll feel right at home. If Gerry Rafferty, America, Jay Ferguson, and Looking Glass are on your playlist — you’re already aboard.

Featuring seasoned players from across the Southern California music community, every member brings 30+ years of live performance, studio craft, touring, and a genuine passion for the songs we grew up with. We lean smooth when the moment calls for it — and we can hit hard when the tide rolls in.

We love this music, we live this music, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Catch us at a club, park, concert, or festival anytime you’re ready for lush harmonies, authentic tone, and the unmistakable magic of the ’70s — from the softest sail to the full-throttle classics.

Come aboard — smooth seas, big hooks, and rock-solid memories await.

The Boys (and Girl) in da band!

    Brock "Boom Boom" Scott

    Drums/Vocals/Management

With over 4 decades on the Southern California music scene, Brock brings the smoothest pocket this side of the Pacific. His laid-back groove, warm harmonies, and ocean-breeze vocal tone form the rhythmic backbone of Summer Breeze SD. Brock has played it all — classic rock, original rock, and, of course, the silky West Coast yacht sound he was practically born to perform.

Onstage, he’s effortless: tight timing, tasteful fills, and vocals that glide like a sunset sail through Mission Bay. Whether he’s locking in the rhythm or floating a harmony on top, Brock keeps the band cruising steady and sounding polished, no matter the waters.

Fun Fact: When he’s not behind a drum kit, Brock is usually behind a camera, editing, designing, or writing —because apparently “free time” is not part of his vocabulary.

    Mike "Does it All" Mudd

    Acoustic/Electric Guitar/Vocals/Percussion

For more than 40 years, Mike has been a natural frontman and seasoned guitarist, bringing smooth vocals and effortless stage charisma to Summer Breeze SD. Whether he’s gliding on electric leads or strumming a laid-back acoustic groove, Mike delivers that signature West Coast polish that defines the band’s sound. His voice blends yacht-rock cool with a storyteller’s warmth — no surprise, considering he’s also the lead singer of a country band.

From soft-rock crooning to harmonized choruses and crowd-pleasing banter, Mike keeps every show feeling like a sunset sail with perfect ocean conditions. His guitar work is tasteful and dialed-in, and his vocals can float, soar, or steal the spotlight — all with a calm confidence that only decades on stage can bring.

Fun Fact: When he’s not with Summer Breeze SD, you’ll find Mike singing country tunes, proving that whether it’s palm-tree smooth or southern-skies twang, he’s right at home on any musical shoreline.

    Mark "Tickles the Ivories" Moorhead

    Keyboard

With well over 40 years behind the keys, Mark brings a seasoned touch and breezy sophistication to Summer Breeze SD. From shimmering electric piano textures to signature yacht-era synth lines, Mark delivers the lush sonic backdrop that gives the band its unmistakable West Coast smoothness. A veteran of some of the region’s top local bands, he knows exactly how to elevate a song — whether he’s adding tasteful sparkle, thickening harmonies, or taking a solo that sails right into the sunset.

Off the keys, Mark keeps the crew laughing with his unmistakable Michigan sense of humor — sharp, dry, and just the right mix of Midwest charm and irreverence. Onstage, he’s equal parts musician and mood-lighter, blending immaculate keyboard work with a relaxed presence that keeps the band loose, locked-in, and always having fun.

Fun Fact: If the band isn’t smiling, Mark considers it a technical error and corrects it immediately — usually with perfectly timed sarcasm.

    Doug "The Rock" Douglas

    Bass Guitar

For decades, Doug has been a rock-solid force in the San Diego music scene. A veteran of some of the region’s top hard-rock cover bands — and a groove-dealer for local funk outfits — Doug brings a powerful blend of precision, taste, and deep-water pocket to Summer Breeze SD. His bass playing is steady, smooth, and anchored, the kind that quietly holds the whole ship together while still making the deck sway just right.

With well over 40 years of experience, Doug is the band’s true backbone — locking tight with the drums, shaping the feel of every tune, and adding just the right amount of low-end luxury to the West Coast yacht sound. Whether he’s laying down a warm glide, delivering a clean melodic line, or snapping into a funk groove just because he can, Doug brings the kind of confidence and calm that only long-time pros carry.

Fun Fact: Doug once was kicked off of Eddie Money's Tour Bus (says it's a long story)!

    Dave "Tone Meister" Gladdish

    Lead Guitar/Vocals

Dave brings soaring lead guitar, rich vocals, and a tone so dialed-in it practically deserves its own berth on deck. A seasoned player with decades in the craft, Dave nails every part with taste, precision, and that unmistakable West Coast shimmer. From silky solos to perfectly phrased fills, he delivers the kind of playing that elevates every tune and makes the band sound bigger, warmer, and even more unapologetically yacht.

As a vocalist, Dave adds depth, blend, and polish to the group’s harmonies—rounding out the lush, multi-layered vocal sound that defines Summer Breeze SD. His ear, tone, and attention to detail have made him a cornerstone of the band’s musical identity, and it shows every time he leans into a lead line or locks into a chorus.

Fun Fact: Dave gigs more than anyone the band knows (even Mark), proving that if there’s a stage, an audience, and a chance to make music, Dave will be there with guitar in hand.

    Debbra "Kicking Sax" Sweet

    Saxophone/Vocals/Percussion

Debbra is the band’s horn powerhouse, bringing Alto and soprano sax, flute, and knockout vocals to the Summer Breeze SD sound. With decades of stage experience and a tone as smooth as a Catalina sunrise, Debbra adds the shimmering hooks, soulful solos, and lush harmonies that define the golden era of West Coast yacht music. From expressive flute lines to bold sax passages and polished lead vocals, her versatility gives the band its unmistakable air of sophistication and soul.

Onstage, Debbra brings equal parts musical fire and personality — commanding presence, contagious energy, and the ability to switch from sweet and silky to bold and brassy in a heartbeat. And if there’s ever a yacht-rock moment that calls for a little extra flair, she’s got it covered.

Fun Fact: If the horns are soaring, the harmonies are stacked, and a killer Cher outfit mysteriously appears… there’s a 100% chance Debbra is involved.

    Gerlando "That's Amore" Calipatri

    Percussion

When the percussion chair calls, Gerlando Calipatri steps in with fiery hands, sharp instincts, and a rhythmic feel that locks instantly into the Summer Breeze SD groove. With a natural sense of pulse and a deep love for the pocket, Gerlando adds sparkle, drive, and that perfect extra layer of percussive texture that makes yacht-rock rhythms feel effortless and alive. From hand drums and shakers to tasteful accents that elevate the whole band, he slips into the lineup like he’s been there all along.

His upbeat spirit, easy chemistry with the group, and ever-present smile make him a welcome presence both on and off the stage. When Gerlando is on percussion, the music feels tighter, brighter, and just a touch more adventurous — the way smooth-sailing yacht should be.

Fun Fact: If you notice the rhythm section getting extra spicy, crisp, and locked-in, Gerlando is probably in the seat — grinning the whole time.

Keven "Jack of all Trades" Ford

    Guitar and Bass Sub

Wen Summer Breeze SD needs a rock-solid sub, and all-around pro, Keven Ford is our first call. A seasoned guitarist and bassist, Keven steps into the lineup with effortless confidence, always fully prepared and always locked into the yacht-smooth groove. His musicianship, tone, and easy chemistry allow him to slide seamlessly into our sound — whether he’s holding down the low end or bringing polished rhythm and lead guitar.

As a music educator and a longtime member of multiple Southern California bands, Keven brings both technical skill and versatile experience to every performance. His ability to quickly adapt to arrangements, blend vocally, and match the band’s feel makes him a natural fit whenever he joins the crew.

Fun Fact: When Keven shows up for a sub spot, he arrives so prepared that most people assume he’s been in the band from day one — and honestly, we don’t blame them.
